Rockstar Games has released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, providing a deeper look into the game’s story and setting. The new trailer focuses on the game’s characters and world, with Rockstar describing it as “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”
The game’s story follows Jason and Lucia, two characters who find themselves on the wrong side of a conspiracy in the state of Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida. According to Rockstar, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
The game’s setting is Vice City, a fictionalized version of Miami, and its surrounding areas, including the fictional Leonida Keys and Mount Kalaga National Park. Screenshots from the game showcase the game’s visuals, featuring locations such as Ambrosia, Grassrivers, and Port Gellhorn.
Grand Theft Auto VI was initially slated to launch in fall 2025 on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X but was later delayed to May 2026. The game is expected to feature a Bonnie and Clyde-style story, and reports suggest that user-generated content could play a significant role in the release.
The Grand Theft Auto series has a history of long waits between releases, with GTA V first launching over a decade ago. Since then, the game’s online mode has become a huge success, and Rockstar has released other notable titles like Red Dead Redemption 2.
